The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has pledged a significant 10-year investment plan in the United States, aiming to pour $1.4 trillion into sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, energy, and manufacturing. The announcement followed a high-level meeting between UAE officials and U.S. President Donald Trump earlier this week.
According to a statement from the White House, this commitment will substantially enhance the UAE’s existing investments in the U.S., with a key focus on bolstering critical infrastructure. The framework also includes a new aluminum smelter project, marking the first new smelter to be built in the U.S. in 35 years, through a partnership with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA). This smelter is expected to nearly double domestic aluminum production, reinforcing the UAE’s role in advancing U.S. manufacturing.

Although some aspects of the investment framework had been previously announced, the overall commitment underscores the UAE’s deepening ties with the U.S., particularly as it seeks to diversify its economy away from oil. AI and other cutting-edge technologies have been a focal point of the UAE’s long-term strategy.
Beyond this new commitment, UAE sovereign wealth funds, such as Abu Dhabi’s $330-billion Mubadala, have been significant investors in the U.S. for years. The UAE has increasingly positioned itself as a leader in sectors like AI and space exploration, strengthening its global influence.
The White House highlighted that the new investment agreement emerged from discussions held earlier this week between Trump and UAE national security adviser Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The talks also included U.S. Vice President JD Vance and top cabinet members, underscoring the high-level coordination between the two nations.
