[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]A passenger on a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight has reported a theft incident involving a substantial amount of gold, valued at 93,000 dirhams (AED), from his checked baggage. The incident allegedly occurred during PIA Flight PK-210 from Sharjah Airport to Sialkot International Airport on August 5th.
The passenger claims that the theft took place during the handling of baggage, possibly between baggage drop-off and loading onto the flight. However, PIA has raised concerns about rule violations and lack of proper documentation related to the incident
PIA’s spokesperson stated that the passenger did not declare the gold to authorities or the airline, as required by procedures. The spokesperson also mentioned that money and jewelry should not be kept in check-in baggage and that proper customs declarations were not made.

Additionally, the passenger did not inform the crew about carrying gold in hand baggage and did not check the contents before leaving the airport.
The spokesperson emphasized that PIA’s involvement in seeking an investigation on behalf of the passenger would require proper declarations and tracking. Since there is no documentation of the transported items, seeking a claim without formal paperwork presents difficulties.
It’s worth noting that baggage services and boarding procedures at both Sharjah and Sialkot airports are managed by local handling agents, not PIA staff.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
