Trump Unveils “Board of Peace” with $1 Billion Fee Per Country

US President Donald Trump has unveiled plans for an international organization called the “Board of Peace.” The White House is asking countries to pay $1 billion for a permanent membership seat, according to a draft charter seen Monday by AFP.

The board is designed to promote stability, enforce lawful governance, and resolve conflicts in areas affected or threatened by war. Member countries would be represented by their heads of state and serve three-year terms, with longer terms available if they contribute over $1 billion within the first year.

Leaders invited to join include Russian President Vladimir Putin, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. Trump will chair the board, which will also include a main governing body, a Palestinian committee focused on Gaza, and an executive advisory board.

The charter suggests that the board should operate independently of traditional institutions that have “too often failed,” signaling a critique of the United Nations. Trump has previously criticized the UN and announced plans to withdraw the US from multiple international organizations and treaties.

The draft gives Trump authority to remove member states and appoint his successor as chairman if he leaves the role. Current members listed include Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, senior negotiator Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner.

Israel has raised concerns over the Gaza executive board, which includes Turkish and Qatari officials. While the board was initially conceived to help rebuild Gaza, the charter does not limit its role to Palestinian territories.

Observers say the initiative reflects Trump’s desire to create alternative global governance structures. Analysts also note that the $1 billion fee for permanent membership may pose practical and political challenges for participating nations.
