The newly appointed Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial has taken steps to get up to speed with the agency’s key initiatives. He has directed Member Operations Mir Badshah Khan Wazir to provide a detailed briefing on the Tajir Dost Scheme, a significant policy aimed at streamlining tax processes for traders.
During a recent meeting, FBR officials briefed Chairman Langrial on the organization’s structure and ongoing initiatives, including the Tajir Dost Scheme and the agency’s digitization efforts. This briefing underscored the chairman’s focus on enhancing tax collection and efficiency within the FBR.

Additionally, FBR has updated income tax rates for 42 cities, following consultations with trader bodies. Traders are now required to pay taxes on a monthly basis, with FBR set to take action against those who fail to comply.
Chairman Langrial has also instructed various FBR directorates to prepare presentations and prioritize tax collection. The FBR has been actively working on proposals to address potential revenue shortfalls, which have been forwarded to the finance minister for consideration.
