Student’s Family Launches Violent Attack on Female Quran Teacher at School

Teacher Assaulted by Student’s Family at Karachi’s Al-Badar Higher Secondary School

Karachi — A disturbing incident took place at Al-Badar Higher Secondary School in Lihari, Karachi, where the Head of Islamic Studies (HOD) was physically attacked by the family of a student after disciplining the child for skipping Quran class.

According to reports, the eighth-grade student, Eshal, was punished by being made to stand outside the classroom for 20 minutes. In retaliation, Eshal, accompanied by her mother, maternal uncle, and several men—some reportedly armed and claiming to be police officers—entered the school premises and demanded to meet the HOD.

The group then assaulted the teacher, forcibly removing her niqab and beating her in front of students and school staff. Other women who tried to intervene were also attacked, while male staff reportedly did not step in. The violent incident left many students frightened and in tears.

A video of the assault, secretly recorded, has gone viral on social media, provoking widespread condemnation and demands for justice. Despite the gravity of the attack, the school administration allegedly suggested that the teacher, Mam Sara, should forgive the student.

In response, a protest has been organized for Thursday, 29th May 2025, at 9 a.m. near the Islamia College Secondary Branch, with community members calling for accountability and justice for the victims.
