[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Insomniac Games, the developer renowned for the widely popular Spider-Man games on PlayStation 4 and 5, recently fell victim to a significant ransomware attack, exposing nearly the entirety of Insomniac’s planned release roadmap.
The cyber attackers issued a threat to disclose 1.67 terabytes of data unless a $2 million ransom was paid. In response to Insomniac’s refusal to comply, the hackers proceeded to leak information about Insomniac’s game titles slated for release until 2030.
Notably, this included details about a PC version of the recently launched Spider-Man 2 for PlayStation 5.
As per the leaked documents, the PC port of Spider-Man 2 is estimated to cost $4.6 million, twice the amount incurred for the first installment. The completion target for this port is set by the end of Insomniac’s 2024 financial year, concluding in March 2024.

However, the revelation does not imply an imminent PC release, as Sony, the owner of Insomniac Games, has consistently maintained a policy of delaying PC launches for its first-party games by at least a year after their PlayStation counterparts.

Typically, PC versions of PlayStation games arrive no earlier than two years post-release, with a few exceptions like Returnal. Hence, the anticipation for Spider-Man 2 on PC should not extend before 2025.
Beyond Spider-Man 2, Insomniac’s future plans include the launch of a standalone Venom game in the fall of 2025, akin to the scale of Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The much-lauded Wolverine is anticipated to debut in the fall of 2026, as per the leaked information.
Spider-Man 3, teased prominently at the conclusion of Spider-Man 2, is slated for a fall 2028 release, while a new Rachet and Clank title is set to hit the shelves in 2029, marking eight years since the previous installment. Lastly, Marvel’s X-Men is reported to be in development for a release in 2030.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
