Sindh Government Announces Drug Testing in Schools to Curb Narcotics Use (1)

Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced that the provincial government will introduce Drug Testing in schools. The step aims to control rising drug use among students.

He shared this statement while speaking to the media in Karachi on Sunday. He said drug abuse has become a serious issue in Pakistan and worldwide.

Memon added that Drug Testing will be conducted randomly in schools. The goal is to identify students at risk and prevent further harm.

He said the government has not taken narcotics seriously in the past. According to him, stronger action is now required to protect children.

Rising Concern Over Drug Abuse

The minister said drug addiction among children and youth is increasing. He called it a growing challenge for the provincial government.

He also said rehabilitation centers are being developed across Sindh. However, he admitted the situation still remains alarming.

Memon referred to a recent incident in Karachi involving a drug-addicted child. He said the child attacked family members under the influence of drugs.

He explained that such cases show how dangerous drug addiction can become. He said Drug Testing in schools can help detect problems early.

Government Crackdown on Drug Networks

Memon said drug trafficking is being operated like a large business network. He stressed that breaking this system is the government’s responsibility.

He added that authorities are working to identify and stop those involved in illegal drug trade.

The minister also referred to a suspect known as Anmol alias Pinky. He alleged she is involved in selling harmful substances affecting young people.

He clarified that the issue is not limited to one person or case. Instead, it is part of a wider illegal network.

Role of Parents and Society

Sharjeel Inam Memon urged media outlets not to promote or glamorize drug-related incidents. He said responsible reporting is necessary.
