Sindh Government Takes Action Against Misuse of Official Vehicles

The Sindh government has announced that it will take strict action against individuals who fail to return government vehicles after their use. A meeting of the Sindh Cabinet Sub-Committee, chaired by Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, decided that FIRs would be filed against anyone caught using government vehicles without authorization. The meeting, held at the Sindh Secretariat, emphasized the importance of reducing unnecessary vehicle-related expenses.

The committee also discussed several proposals aimed at minimizing costs by regulating the use of government vehicles. Among the suggestions was the auctioning of vehicles that are no longer in use. The senior minister stressed the need for clear guidelines on the allotment and regulation of government vehicles to ensure transparency.

Memon also addressed the rising costs of petrol, oil, and lubricants, calling for measures to curb the unnecessary use of official cars. He underscored the importance of ensuring transparency, particularly in the auctioning of idle vehicles, to avoid misuse and improve government spending.

The Sindh government currently owns around 12,000 vehicles across various departments such as education, health, police, and law. Reports suggest that many government vehicles are often not returned after the terms of ministers and politicians end, with some vehicles kept for personal use, further increasing government expenses.
