Shubman Gill Named ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February 2025

India’s star cricketer Shubman Gill has been awarded the prestigious ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February 2025, edging out strong competition from Australia’s Steve Smith and New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips. Gill’s stellar performances throughout the month solidified his claim to the award, adding another achievement to his growing list of accolades.

Gill showcased his consistency in February, amassing 406 runs in five one-day internationals at an impressive average of 101.50 and a strike rate of 94.19. His contributions played a pivotal role in India’s 3-0 series sweep against England, where he posted three consecutive half-centuries. His performances included an 87 in Nagpur, 60 in Cuttack, and a match-winning century (112 off 102 balls) in Ahmedabad, which earned him both the Player of the Match and Player of the Series honors.

Gill’s form continued into the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, where he helped India secure victories in their opening two matches. He scored an unbeaten 101 in the tournament opener against Bangladesh in Dubai and followed it up with a steady 46 against Pakistan, further demonstrating his value to the team.

This is the third time the 24-year-old has won the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award, having previously claimed the title in January and September 2023. His continued excellence, both in bilateral series and major tournaments, cements his place as one of the premier batsmen in international cricket.
