Shaista Lodhi Opens Up About Being Mistaken for Son’s Girlfriend

Share

Television host and actor Shaista Lodhi recently discussed her experiences of being mistaken for her son’s girlfriend during a candid interview. Lodhi shared that in Pakistan, there is a tendency for people to condescend towards women who maintain a youthful appearance as they age. However, she emphasized that such assumptions and remarks are specific to Pakistan and do not reflect a global perspective.

Appearing on the show Hasna Mana Hai, Lodhi responded to an audience member’s question about whether she has been mistaken for her children’s sibling or partner. She recounted instances where strangers approached them during outings, commenting on their resemblance as a couple or siblings. Rather than correcting the misunderstanding, Lodhi embraces the attention and enjoys the moment.

Lodhi expressed her frustration with the judgment she faces, stating, “If you’ve had kids at a young age, then is that also my fault? Apparently, that becomes a taunt too here.” She shared that it has become a routine for people to mistake her for her children’s sibling or partner whenever they go out together.

When asked if she corrects them, Lodhi responded playfully, saying she sees no need to do so. She takes pride in her well-maintained appearance, considering it a testament to her efforts. Lodhi confidently stated, “Why should I lie about it? It feels good that I have maintained myself even at this age.”

Lodhi also highlighted the importance of consistency in her routine and credited her age-defying looks to her daily commitment to self-care. She emphasized that she takes charge of her household every day, acting as the alarm for her family.

Earlier this year, Lodhi responded gracefully to a troll who criticized her age and earnings. She advised the troll to stop being delusional, emphasizing that age is not something to hide and is unrelated to financial success. Lodhi’s confident response reflected her self-assurance and resilience in the face of negativity.
