This decision came following a petition filed by Javed against the Election Commission of Pakistan’s refusal to accept her nomination papers. Sanam Javed, who had been detained for months due to involvement in the May 9 violence, received the verdict from LHC Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan.
The court overruled the electoral watchdog’s decision and reinstated Javed’s eligibility. Earlier in the week, Tayyaba Raja, a PTI worker, criticized the party leadership for selecting Javed, asserting that it undermined the sacrifices made by other party members. The ECP had previously rejected Javed’s nomination papers due to a joint account with her father, deeming her ineligible.
