The Punjab government plans to spend Rs600 million to purchase 79 luxury vehicles for provincial ministers and parliamentary secretaries, aiming to enhance the Services and General Administration Department’s (S&GAD) transport pool, sources revealed.
The provincial home ministry has requested vehicles, including bulletproof ones for 12 prime ministers, for the SCO meeting in Islamabad on October 15. The Additional Chief Secretary highlighted the need, pointing to the recent appointment of 29 Parliamentary Secretaries.

By law, each Parliamentary Secretary is entitled to an official vehicle. While 20 vehicles have been supplied from the S&GAD pool, nine more are needed. An additional 20 vehicles will be reserved for future cabinet and secretarial expansions.
The government has also requested 30 Toyota Hilux single cabins for ministerial security due to the law and order situation. Furthermore, 15 luxury vehicles, including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Land Cruisers, have been acquired for the SCO meeting, following the practice of providing such vehicles to VVIPs, judges, and senior officials.
