Punjab Declares Early Summer Break for Schools

Punjab’s Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat, has declared an early onset of summer holidays across all public and private schools due to the prevailing heatwave. The vacation period will commence on May 25 and extend until May 31st.

The decision to advance the summer break has garnered significant parental approval. It’s reported that 96% of parents have expressed support for the government’s initiative to safeguard children from the intense heat.

In a recorded message, Rana Sikandar Hayat emphasized the paramount importance of prioritizing student well-being amidst the ongoing heatwave. He highlighted the overwhelming backing from parents, with 96% advocating for an early commencement of the summer vacation.

“Our foremost concern is the health and safety of our students. Given the extreme weather conditions, it’s imperative to take preemptive measures to ensure their welfare,” he asserted.

Schools that are conducting examinations have been conditionally permitted to remain open solely for exam purposes, provided they adhere to necessary precautionary measures.

Earlier, the Punjab government had announced the standard summer vacation period from June 1 to August 14 due to the severe heatwave.
