Punjab Achieves Record Cleanliness During Eid ul Azha

The Punjab government reported surpassing its cleanliness and security goals on the first day of Eid ul Adha, achieving 103 percent of its planned target and setting a new standard for public service operations across the province.

The achievement was made under the provincial government’s “Suthra Punjab” initiative, which was carried out in coordination with the Punjab Safe Cities Authority. The large-scale campaign focused on maintaining cleanliness and ensuring security during Eid celebrations.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz closely monitored the operation through digital systems throughout the day. Senior administrative officials, including commissioners, deputy commissioners, and assistant commissioners, remained active in the field despite challenging weather conditions and high temperatures.

To strengthen security arrangements, authorities used Safe City surveillance cameras and drone technology to monitor Eid prayer gatherings, sacrificial animal sites, and crowded public areas. Officials stated that preparations began on Chand Raat, with extensive cleaning activities conducted at mosques, Eid grounds, and major roads across Punjab.

Special efforts were also made to improve the environment around places of worship, including the use of rose water for fragrance. Drone surveillance helped authorities identify animal waste in narrow streets, markets, and busy neighborhoods. Sanitation teams were then dispatched to remove the waste quickly and transport it to designated collection points.

According to official figures, more than 120,000 tons of waste were collected across Punjab on the first day of Eid. Teams working under the Suthra Punjab program carried out cleaning operations across a vast area of the province, ensuring prompt disposal of sacrificial waste.

Authorities further reported that over 1,000 kilometers of roads were washed and cleaned, while cleanup work was completed at more than 1,200 designated sacrificial sites. These efforts were aimed at maintaining public hygiene and preventing environmental issues during the Eid holidays.

Many residents appreciated the cleanliness and security measures, praising the administration for its effective planning and swift execution. Citizens also acknowledged the efforts of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and government departments for ensuring a cleaner and safer environment during Eid ul Adha celebrations.
