An 18-year-old American girl traveled to Pakistan to marry a 23-year-old boy from Chitral after meeting through the popular online game PUBG.
Flores Sarah from the U.S. and Shahadat Hussain from Chitral’s Maroi area initially connected three years ago while playing PUBG. What started as a shared interest in the game blossomed into a deep friendship and, eventually, love.

Sarah, accompanied by her mother, arrived in Lower Dir earlier this week. The wedding ceremony was held at a private hotel and celebrated with great joy and traditional festivities, with guests from the village and nearby areas in attendance.
The nikah ceremony was performed by Maulana Khaliquz Zaman, the khateeb of Chitral’s Shahi Mosque. He confirmed that Sarah’s consent and her mother’s presence were obtained. As Sarah’s name already included “Sarah,” no changes were made to it.
True to local customs, the bride wore traditional attire, adding a cultural element to the ceremony. This touching cross-cultural love story has captured widespread attention, demonstrating how virtual connections can lead to real-world relationships.
