He was apprehended after voluntarily surrendering to police outside the Peshawar High Court, DI Khan bench, where he had gone to secure bail in the cases filed against him on various charges, including terrorism.

“I know nothing about FIRs [first information reports]… “They are saying that FIRs have been filed against me and that my arrest is required,” he said to the media before his arrest.

The PTI leader claimed that the police were arresting him “illegally” and conducting raids on his home.

Gandapur stated that he voluntarily surrendered to authorities in order to avoid causing chaos on the court grounds.

Meanwhile, PTI chief Imran Khan has condemned his party’s leader’s arrest, claiming that “complete law of the jungle prevails in Pakistan.”

“PDM and handlers have a single goal: to go after PTI workers and leadership.” Despite bail, it was decided to arrest Ali Amin Gandapur. But they will be decimated in the elections, InshaAllah,” he wrote on Twitter, alongside a video of Gandapur’s counsel.

According to the video, the PTI leader’s lawyer stated that the district police officer (DPO) told the sessions judge that they had to arrest Gandapur “at all costs,” regardless of whether there was a case against him.

The counsel also claimed that when the judge informed him that Gandapur had been granted bail, the DPO was prepared to face the contempt charge.

The DI Khan High Court Bar Association (HCBA) also condemned the arrest, claiming that the detention was motivated by “malice.”

According to the HCBA, the PTI leader was taken into custody outside the gate rather than on the premises of the High Court Bar.

Earlier this week, security personnel claimed to have discovered a large cache of weapons in a car travelling to Lahore from DI Khan’s Gandapur residence.

The Bhakkar police signalled the car to stop for routine identification during a security check at the Dajal check post, but the riders hit the security barriers and fled.

An FIR was later filed against Gandapur, and the two suspects were apprehended by police.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
