PTI Chairman Gohar Reports Family Attacked, Documents Seized In Islamabad Raid By Masked individuals

On Saturday, PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan disclosed that his residence was forcibly entered by masked individuals while he was attending a Supreme Court hearing on his party’s electoral symbol, the “bat.” He informed Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa that during the incident, his son and nephew were physically assaulted, and the intruders seized a computer and important documents. Gohar Ali Khan presented this disturbing information to the Chief Justice during the hearing, expressing the gravity of the situation.

Seeking the court’s understanding, Gohar Ali Khan requested to be excused from the ongoing hearing. In his absence, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa called Additional Attorney General Chaudhry Amir Rehman to address the concerning situation. The Chief Justice emphasized that such incidents should not occur and promptly sought an assessment of the situation from the Additional Attorney General. Following this, both Gohar Ali Khan and the Additional Attorney General briefly left the court to attend to the situation.

Upon Gohar Ali Khan’s return, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa inquired about the situation, and the PTI Chairman described it as “very serious.” However, the Chief Justice restricted further discussion, instructing the Additional Attorney General to resolve the matter.

Later in the day, the Islamabad Police provided a statement indicating that the City DPO (District Police Officer) had visited Gohar Ali Khan’s residence on the directives of the Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan. The police conveyed that the DPO had met with Gohar’s nephew, Muhammad Yusuf, to gather preliminary information. The statement emphasized the commitment to impartial enforcement of the law, assuring that if any police officer was found culpable, appropriate action would be taken against them.

The incident, involving the intrusion into Gohar Ali Khan’s residence, adds a layer of complexity to the ongoing legal proceedings concerning the PTI’s electoral symbol. The swift response by the Chief Justice and law enforcement authorities underscores the significance of addressing such incidents promptly and impartially. The commitment to equality before the law and the pledge to hold accountable anyone found guilty further underscores the commitment to upholding justice and ensuring the safety of citizens.
