PTI Backers Harass Judge Athar Minallah In London

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]In London, a judge from the Supreme Court of Pakistan encountered hostility from individuals purportedly aligned with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) while attending a seminar. Justice Minallah, a senior jurist, was invited by Pakistani students to share his insights on the ‘Future of Pakistan’ at the London School of Economics (LSE). However, the incident took a negative turn as alleged PTI supporters confronted the Pakistani judge outside LSE, capturing the attention of online viewers through circulating video clips. Swift action was taken by event organizers to ensure Justice Minallah’s safety.

The video clips depict the PTI supporters chasing Justice Minallah as he navigated through the vicinity of LSE. Disturbingly, anti-army slogans were audible from some of the supporters, and others physically pressed the judge to elicit his thoughts on the military establishment.

Despite the unsettling situation, Justice Minallah maintained his composure throughout the encounter. In response to the anti-army slogans, he countered with patriotic chants of ‘Pakistan Zindabad.’ The judge’s measured response showcased his resilience and commitment to maintaining a dignified stance in the face of adversity.

This incident adds to a series of similar confrontations involving PTI workers targeting political figures in various international settings. Notable instances include heckling incidents directed at Marriyum Aurangzeb, Hussain Nawaz (the son of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif), and former minister Shah Zain Bugti in locations such as Saudi Arabia and other countries.

The occurrence in London raises concerns about the behavior of political supporters abroad and the potential impact on diplomatic relations. Such incidents not only reflect poorly on the image of the involved political party but also have broader implications for Pakistan’s global standing. The actions of individuals affiliated with PTI in this case contribute to an unfavorable perception of the party’s supporters engaging in disruptive and disrespectful behavior on an international platform.

It is essential for political leaders and parties to condemn such incidents unequivocally and emphasize the importance of respectful engagement, even in the context of differing political views. Diplomatic decorum and adherence to democratic principles should remain paramount, irrespective of the setting or location.

As Pakistan continues to engage globally, fostering positive international relations becomes imperative. The actions of individuals disrupting events abroad not only tarnish the image of political parties but can also have far-reaching consequences for the country’s diplomatic efforts. It is incumbent upon political leaders to promote a culture of tolerance, respectful discourse, and constructive engagement, both domestically and internationally. This incident serves as a reminder of the challenges associated with maintaining decorum and fostering healthy political discourse, even beyond the borders of one’s home country.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
