Steve Elworthy, CEO of Surrey, and Stuart Cain, CEO of Warwickshire, have both expressed support for the proposal to hold India-Pakistan matches at their respective venues.
Rohit Sharma’s suggestion came during an interview with the Club Prairie Fire podcast, where he emphasized the excitement of hosting a Test match between the two nations in a neutral country. He highlighted the competitive spirit between India and Pakistan and emphasized his focus on cricket.
The last Test match between India and Pakistan occurred during the 2007/08 season, while their last bilateral white-ball series took place in 2012/13 when Pakistan toured India for ODIs and T20Is.
Currently, encounters between the two teams are limited to events like the Asia Cup and global tournaments such as the World Cup. Political tensions have hindered regular bilateral cricket engagements between India and Pakistan, with the Indian government reluctant to endorse such matches.
