PMDC Addresses Claims Of 80 Percent Fee Hike For MDCAT Exam

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has dismissed claims about an 80% increase in the MDCAT 2025 examination fee.

According to an official statement, PMDC clarified that the fee has increased only slightly—from Rs. 8,000 in 2024 to Rs. 9,000 in 2025. This marks a 12.5% rise, not the 80% reported on social media.

The council explained that the adjustment was made at the request of universities conducting the test. Rising costs related to printing, logistics, staff payments, and security were cited as key reasons.

PMDC emphasized that the decision was made after consultation with all stakeholders. The goal is to ensure smooth and secure conduct of the national medical entrance exam.

MDCAT 2025 is scheduled to take place on October 5 across all provinces. Designated universities will conduct the test using a uniform syllabus prepared by PMDC. The paper-based exam will consist of 180 multiple-choice questions.

Subjects will include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Logical Reasoning. The official syllabus is available on the PMDC website for download.

Registration opened on August 8 and will continue until August 25. A late registration option is available until September 1, subject to an additional fee.

Students are advised to register online through the official portal. The council also urged applicants to avoid relying on social media for unverified information.

By addressing these rumors directly, PMDC aims to provide clarity and reduce confusion for aspiring medical students.

The council remains committed to maintaining transparency and ensuring fair access to medical and dental education in Pakistan.
