PMD Issues Heatwave Warning for Karachi and Sindh Districts

The PMD has issued a heatwave alert for Karachi and several districts of Sindh. The warning covers very hot and dry weather conditions expected over the weekend and early next week.

According to the PMD, temperatures in Karachi will rise significantly. The city may record up to 38°C on Saturday. On Sunday, temperatures are expected to reach around 40°C.

The PMD further warned that Monday could be even hotter. Temperatures may exceed 41°C in Karachi and nearby areas. The “feels-like” temperature could reach 49°C to 50°C due to high humidity.

Humidity levels are also expected to remain high. The PMD said humidity may reach around 45% on Saturday. It could rise to 70% in the morning on Sunday.

By Monday, humidity levels are expected to stay between 40% and 50%. This combination of heat and humidity may increase discomfort for residents.

The PMD also said central and upper Sindh will experience intense heat. Temperatures in these areas are expected to stay 3°C to 5°C above normal levels.

Several districts will be affected by the heatwave. These include Jamshoro, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Kashmore, Ghotki, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Sukkur.

In addition to high temperatures, dust storms and strong winds are also expected. The PMD warned that these conditions may affect parts of Jacobabad, Larkana, Kashmore, Shikarpur, and Sukkur.

Strong winds may cause damage to weak structures. Solar panels and other exposed installations could also be affected.

The PMD has advised people to avoid direct sunlight during peak hours. Citizens are urged to drink more water and stay hydrated throughout the day.

Special care has been recommended for children, women, and elderly people. Farmers have also been advised to protect crops and livestock during the heatwave.

The PMD stressed that precautionary measures are necessary to reduce health risks. Authorities have urged the public to follow safety guidelines during the extreme weather conditions.
