The functionality of the microblogging platform X, previously known as Twitter, was partially reinstated in Pakistan on Monday after experiencing a nearly 40-hour outage. The disruption began on February 17 at 9 pm, coinciding with widespread protests in the country over allegations of election manipulation.

While services were briefly restored for about half an hour on the previous day, they were once again disrupted after this short period. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has not released an official statement regarding the cause of the social media platform’s outage.

This recent incident adds to a series of disruptions in internet and social media services experienced by Pakistan in the preceding days. During the general elections held on February 8, internet and mobile services were suspended nationwide, citing security concerns. The intermittent disruptions have raised concerns about the impact on communication and information flow in the country.
