Many foreigners gathered around the historic structure, expecting it to light up in green and white, only to be disappointed. Even though the monument did not commemorate Pakistan’s Independence Day, they yelled ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ shouts.
Posts on Twitter, Instagram, and other social media sites expressed outrage and sadness about the exclusion. Some users emphasised the significance of the act, not just as a show of togetherness, but also as a source of pride for the Pakistani diaspora.
Despite their regret, many Pakistanis hoped that the tragedy would serve as a reminder of the importance of such acts of solidarity and unity. The incident spurred debate regarding the significance of commemorating and honouring national milestones, even outside national borders.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
