Pakistani Cricketers Set to Receive Generous Payouts Despite T20 World Cup Performance

Despite a disappointing exit from the first round of the T20 World Cup, Pakistan’s cricket team faces a positive financial outlook.

Each player is set to receive Rs1,674,336 in match fees, along with a daily allowance exceeding Rs550,000. Additionally, the International Cricket Council (ICC) will distribute $247,500 (approximately Rs70 million) among the 15 players and their management, amounting to over Rs4.3 million per player.

Furthermore, the team will earn an extra $62,308 (about Rs17.5 million total) for their two match victories, translating to approximately Rs1.1 million per player.

These financial gains follow successful negotiations for the 2023-24 central contracts, where players secured a 3% share of ICC earnings, significantly boosting their monthly salaries. Players in Category A now earn Rs6.03 million monthly, with substantial increases across other categories as well.

Looking forward, the 2024-25 and 2025-26 contracts promise additional salary hikes from ICC revenues, although there are considerations within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to potentially discontinue this benefit.

Despite the financial windfalls, the team’s on-field performance has been lackluster, marked by their early exit from the T20 World Cup with losses to the USA and India. This decline has also impacted their T20 ranking, which has dropped to seventh, a stark contrast to their previous top-ranking position.
