Pakistan is expected to create more than 95,000 employment opportunities over the next five to seven years, according to the Ministry of Planning. These jobs will emerge from major development projects being implemented across multiple sectors in the country.
In October 2025, the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approved 12 development projects covering energy, water, agriculture, governance, health, and education. Six other significant projects have already been forwarded to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for final approval. From these projects alone, around 2,501 immediate jobs are projected.
The government has released Rs330 billion out of the Rs1,000 billion Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) budget during the first four months of the fiscal year. By October, 33% of the funds had been disbursed, with over Rs134 billion already utilized in various sectors.
Infrastructure and transport projects spent Rs46 billion out of a Rs626 billion allocation, while transport and communication projects used Rs25.93 billion from Rs333 billion. The energy sector recorded spending of Rs2.54 billion from Rs122.65 billion. Physical planning and housing projects used Rs4.69 billion of Rs72.73 billion, while water resources utilized Rs12.95 billion out of Rs97.9 billion.
The social sector, including health, education, and nutrition, received Rs169 billion. Education, including the Higher Education Commission, spent Rs8.97 billion out of Rs60.75 billion, while health and nutrition projects used only Rs140 million of Rs16.84 billion. Governance projects spent Rs650 million from Rs11.17 billion, and science and technology projects used Rs1.69 billion out of Rs37.59 billion.
These initiatives are expected to strengthen Pakistan’s economy while providing widespread employment opportunities. Officials say that the development projects will benefit both urban and rural areas, supporting economic growth and social development across the country.

The government plans to continue monitoring the progress of these projects to ensure timely job creation and effective use of PSDP funds, helping Pakistan achieve its national development goals.
