Pakistan secured a spot in the semi-finals of the ongoing Asian Games 2023 by defeating Hong Kong with a commanding 69-run margin at the ZJUT Cricket Field in China.
In their batting innings, Pakistan, known as the Men in Green, set a competitive total of 161 runs on the scoreboard, with Aamer Jamal’s aggressive 41-run knock from just 16 balls leading the charge. Pakistan faced a challenging situation during the second quarter-final as they lost four wickets for just 51 runs in the eighth over, with Omair Yousuf contributing 21 runs off 21 balls.

However, the middle-order duo of Asif Ali and Arafat Minhas played crucial roles, each adding 25 runs to the total, enabling Pakistan to post a defendable target at the end of their innings.
In reply, the Hong Kong team struggled to find their footing, losing five wickets for a mere 55 runs, largely due to Khushdil Shah’s three-wicket haul in his four-over spell. Arafat Minhas, who had showcased an impressive batting display earlier, continued to excel, this time with the ball, picking up two wickets while conceding only 19 runs in his four overs.
Sufyan Muqeem also played a vital role in Pakistan’s victory, claiming two crucial wickets and giving away just 11 runs, helping Pakistan successfully defend their total and limit the opposition to a total of 92 runs in 18 overs.
