Pakistan Railways To Operate Special Trains For Eid

Pakistan Railways intends to operate four special trains to accommodate passengers during the Eid ul Fitr celebrations. These trains will be available from Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta, aiming to alleviate passenger congestion and improve travel convenience.

Aamir Ali Baloch, the CEO of Pakistan Railways, has directed the implementation of these Eid special trains and has mentioned the potential for fare reductions should there be a decrease in petroleum prices.

Furthermore, Baloch underscored the importance of coal transportation in covering nearly half of the railway’s expenses and emphasized the ongoing efforts to ensure the efficient functioning of the railway network.

He also acknowledged the contributions of former Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique in enhancing the railway system, including track restoration and the reintroduction of profitable train services.

In a recent development, Pakistan Railways has planned to procure 230 passenger coaches and 820 Capacity Wagons under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). According to an official from the Ministry of Railways, approximately 46 Completely-Built-Up (CBU) passenger coaches have already been acquired, with the remaining 184 coaches set to be domestically manufactured. These coaches are designed to operate at speeds of up to 160 km/h.
