Pakistan Railways Earns Over Rs. 20 Million from Fare Evaders

The Multan Division of Pakistan Railways collected over Rs. 20 million in September from ticketless passengers under fares and fines. A spokesperson for the division stated that the operation was conducted under Divisional Superintendent Yousuf Leghari’s orders, led by Divisional Commercial Officer (DCO) Ramla Shahid.

During inspections in September 2024, 18,209 passengers without tickets were fined, and the amount collected was deposited in the railway treasury. The spokesperson also mentioned that passenger complaints were addressed during the inspections.

DCO Ramla Shahid highlighted that this is the first large-scale operation against ticketless passengers in the history of the Multan Division. She emphasized that traveling without a ticket is illegal, urging passengers to avoid such actions and warning of fines and fare charges from the train’s point of origin for offenders.
