Pakistan’s U19 Squad Shines With Crushing Win Against Malaysia

DUBAI – Pakistan’s U19 cricket team delivered a spectacular all-round performance to crush Malaysia by 297 runs in their ACC U19 Asia Cup 2025 opener at The Sevens, Dubai, on Friday.

Set an imposing target of 346 runs, Malaysia’s batting lineup crumbled under a relentless Pakistan bowling attack, managing only 48 runs before being bowled out in 19.4 overs. Muhammad Akram was the top scorer for Malaysia with just nine runs, as no batter reached double figures against the dominant Green Shirts.

Mohammad Sayyam and Ali Raza led Pakistan’s bowling, taking three wickets each, supported by Daniyal Ali Khan with two and Niqab Shafiq with one. Malaysia captain Deeaz Patro’s decision to field first backfired as Pakistan’s batting lineup put on a formidable total of 345/3 in their 50 overs.

The innings had a shaky start when Usman Khan was dismissed for just one run, but Sameer Minhas and Ahmed Hussain turned the match around with a monumental third-wicket partnership. Sameer carried his bat unbeaten for 177 off 148 balls, hitting 11 fours and eight sixes, while Ahmed scored 132 before being dismissed hit-wicket. Their 203-run partnership laid the foundation for Pakistan’s massive total.

Malaysia’s bowling struggled to contain the aggressive stroke play, with Nagineswaran Sathnakumaran conceding 91 runs in 10 overs, though he managed two wickets. Akram went for 64 runs in his 10 overs while picking one wicket.

The victory comes as Pakistan unveiled their full squad for the ACC U19 Asia Cup 2025, featuring a blend of experienced youth and promising newcomers.

With both bat and ball performing in unison, Pakistan’s U19 team made a strong statement in the tournament opener, signaling their intent to dominate the competition and maintain momentum throughout the Asia Cup.
