Pakistan and China Commit to Ongoing Support for Mutual Issues

President Asif Ali Zardari and Chinese President Xi Jinping met at Beijing’s Great Hall of the People on Wednesday to discuss bilateral relations, regional and global issues, and ways to deepen their partnership. Both leaders reaffirmed mutual support on shared interests, with Zardari emphasizing the unique and enduring ties between Pakistan and China.

Zardari praised China’s development under Xi’s leadership and highlighted the Belt and Road Initiative, particularly the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), as a model of mutual cooperation. They also discussed advancing CPEC’s development to enhance regional connectivity and prosperity. The meeting underscored the importance of cultural exchanges and people-to-people ties to strengthen their shared vision for the future.

President Zardari invited President Xi to visit Pakistan, calling him a visionary leader and a close friend of the country. Following the meeting, both leaders witnessed the signing of agreements to boost cooperation in areas such as science, technology, media, energy, and socio-economic development.

The visit included a guard of honor by the Chinese armed forces and a warm welcome from Chinese children. Later, President Xi hosted a dinner in honor of President Zardari and his delegation.
