Over 200,000 Medical Hopefuls Take MDCAT 2023 Test

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]In Lahore, a delayed annual test saw thousands of aspiring medical and dental students participating. The Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC), responsible for the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT), reported that 67,000 candidates took the exam in 29 centers across 11 cities. In Lahore alone, more than 19,014 candidates, comprising 5,755 men and 13,259 women, participated in MDCAT 2023, with multiple exam centers established in the city. Additionally, over 40,000 applicants from Sindh took the exams in Karachi, Larkana, Jamshoro, and Nawabshah.

The MDCAT exam commenced at 10:00 am, with examination centers opening at 8:00 am and closing at 9:00 am. The test concluded at 1:30 p.m. Initially, there was an announcement of a special MDCAT for flood-affected students, but this decision was reversed, and these students also participated in the regular exam.

For MDCAT Merit Formula 2023:

– Matric score accounts for 10 percent.
– Intermediate (FSc) performance contributes 40 percent.
– MDCAT results hold a 50 percent weightage.

The MDCAT exam structure includes a total of 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), with an exam duration of 3.5 hours. The minimum passing marks for admission to medical colleges are set at 65 percent, while dental college admission requires a minimum of 55 percent.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
