Iran demonstrated its military capabilities through a missile and drone attack on Pakistan, provoking a robust response from Islamabad. Following Tehran’s violation of Pakistani airspace and the killing of two civilians, Pakistan reportedly launched strikes at multiple locations inside Iran in retaliation, according to the Foreign Office.

In an official statement, the Foreign Office confirmed Pakistan’s precision military strikes against terror hideouts in the Sistan-o-Baluchistan province of Iran. The operation, named ‘Marg Bar Sarmachar,’ aimed at eliminating terrorists. The Foreign Office expressed serious concerns about the safe havens enjoyed by Pakistani-origin terrorists, referred to as Sarmachars, within Iran’s ungoverned spaces.

Despite Islamabad sharing multiple dossiers with concrete evidence of the presence and activities of these terrorists, the Foreign Office lamented the lack of action against Sarmachars who continued to pose threats to Pakistanis. The recent military action was taken based on credible intelligence of impending large-scale terrorist activities by these individuals.

Pakistan emphasized its right to defend its national security against all threats, considering the successful execution of this complex operation as a testament to the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces. The nation pledged to take all necessary steps to preserve the safety and security of its people, respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

This development unfolded after an illegal airstrike by Tehran resulted in the death of two children and injuries to three others. In response, Islamabad expelled the Iranian envoy and recalled its own envoy. Pakistan’s Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Jilani conveyed unreserved condemnation of the unprovoked violation of its airspace by Tehran during a telephonic conversation with Iran’s top diplomat. He warned that the incident caused serious damage to bilateral ties and affirmed Pakistan’s right to respond to this provocative act.

The international community, including Washington and Beijing, condemned the Iranian strike and urged both Tehran and Islamabad to exercise restraint. The incident not only marked a breach of Pakistan’s sovereignty but also violated international law and the spirit of bilateral ties, according to Pakistan’s Foreign Minister.
