The order was issued by Justice Shahid Karim during the hearing of a series of petitions addressing environmental concerns, notably smog.
Additionally, the judge instructed the police to install concrete barriers on the roads to better enforce the one-way rule in Lahore. Judge Karim went a step further, urging the authorities to seize vehicles emitting excessive smoke, as he believed that merely imposing fines would not suffice to combat the issue.

During the proceedings, Judge Karim also expressed his views on the rapid development projects initiated by the interim Punjab government in Lahore. He remarked that the pace at which these projects were being launched gave the impression that the interim setup was preparing for the next general elections. He suggested that new development projects should ideally commence in February, as the period between September and January experiences a peak in smog-related issues.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
