This decision followed a meeting between Bukhari and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad.
Zardari granted his approval for Bukhari’s appointment during the meeting, where both leaders also discussed the current political situation in the country.
Notably, a few days prior to this development, Farhatullah Babar, another PPP leader, had resigned from the position of general secretary within the party.

Additionally, senior PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf recently stated that Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the former foreign minister, would be the party’s candidate for the prime ministerial position. Ashraf emphasized Bilawal’s maturity as a leader and mentioned Asif Ali Zardari’s desire to see him as the country’s premier.
In an interview, Ashraf also addressed concerns about a level playing field in the upcoming elections, suggesting that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) should take action if Bilawal perceives any imbalance.
