NADRA has established a new registration center in the Gulzar-e-Hijri area of Karachi to provide better and easier access to public registration services for local residents.
According to a spokesperson, the new facility was officially inaugurated during a ceremony attended by Federal Education Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui along with provincial assembly members Muhammad Adil Askari, Aamir Siddiqui, and Rao Shaukat.
The newly opened center includes six one-window service counters and is expected to handle around 250 to 300 visitors every day. Officials said the center has been designed to improve efficiency and reduce waiting times for citizens seeking registration-related services.
Separate counters have also been set up for Pak ID services and senior citizens to make the process more convenient. In addition, the center features a self-service counter where people can independently complete and submit their applications.
To assist citizens who face difficulties with fingerprint verification, NADRA has installed an iris recognition device for facial biometric verification. Officials said this system will help individuals whose fingerprints cannot be properly scanned during the identification process.
The registration center also includes special facilities for persons with disabilities, including wheelchair accessibility and easier movement inside the building. A standby power generator has been installed to ensure uninterrupted operations during electricity outages.
Authorities added that the waiting area has seating capacity for around 100 people, making the facility more comfortable for visitors.
The new center is expected to serve approximately 1.2 million to 1.5 million residents from Gulzar-e-Hijri, Jamali Bridge, Scheme 33, Super Highway, Al-Asif, and surrounding areas.
NADRA officials further stated that an evening shift may also be introduced in the future if public demand increases, aiming to further improve service delivery and reduce overcrowding at the registration facility.
