Multan Sultans Appoints Catherine Dalton As First Ever Female Coach for PSL 9

Catherine Dalton has been named the new Fast Bowling Coach for Multan Sultans in anticipation of the 9th edition of the Pakistan Super League, marking a significant milestone as the first woman to hold a coaching position in a high-level men’s team.

A former Irish international player, Catherine Dalton possesses a Level 3 Advanced Coach certification from the England Cricket Board (ECB) and has previously held coaching roles at institutions like the National Fast Bowling Academy in the UK, the Rajasthan Cricket Association, and the Ultimate Pace Foundation in India.

Currently, she is actively engaged with the Multan Sultans youth academy in Lodhran, bringing her extensive experience in fast bowling coaching to the senior men’s team.

Expressing her enthusiasm about the appointment, Catherine Dalton stated, “I am excited on multiple fronts. The opportunity to work with such talented players is fantastic, and it’s a reunion with many I’ve worked with in the past. Beyond this, being a female taking on a prominent role in a men’s franchise is groundbreaking.

To be the first female fast bowling coach in men’s cricket is a deeply humbling experience. Over the nine years since the inception of the PSL, it has not only grown in stature and size but also boasts the best local fast bowling talent compared to other leagues. The quality of cricket played is exceptional.”

Multan Sultans CEO, Ali Khan Tareen, emphasized, “Catherine’s contributions to Multan Sultan’s youth academies speak for themselves, and we eagerly anticipate her bringing these skills to the main team. In this process, we aim to establish new role models for young girls who excel both on the field as athletes and in leadership positions, including the boardroom and coaching academies.”

Catherine Dalton joins Abdul Rehman in the new coaching lineup as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
