Mohammad Amir gets UK Citizenship, IPL Eligibility Now Possible

Mohammad Amir has officially received British citizenship and a British passport, according to recent media reports. The development could create a new opportunity in the career of the Pakistani fast bowler, as he is now technically eligible to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Muhammad Amir has been living in the United Kingdom for several years with his wife, Narjis Khan, who is of British origin, along with their children. After completing the required legal process and residency conditions, the left-arm pacer has now formally become a British citizen.

The former Pakistan cricketer also appeared to confirm the news on social media. On Wednesday, Muhammad Amir reshared a post from a user who congratulated him on receiving British citizenship and wished him success for the future.

Currently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) does not allow Pakistani players to take part in the IPL because of political tensions between the two countries. However, there have been exceptions in the past. Former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood was able to play in the IPL after he became a British citizen.

With his new British passport, Muhammad Amir may now have a chance to enter the IPL if any franchise offers him a contract. Reports suggest that the fast bowler could consider joining the league in the future.

Muhammad Amir has also spoken positively about the IPL in previous interviews and has shown interest in playing in the tournament. Many cricket fans are now waiting to see whether any IPL team approaches him for the upcoming seasons.

The latest development has sparked discussion among cricket fans on social media, especially regarding Muhammad Amir’s possible future in one of the world’s biggest T20 leagues.
