Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is under scrutiny for distributing McDonald’s burgers to schoolchildren during her visit to Murree, amidst calls to boycott the chain for its alleged support to Israel during the Gaza conflict.

Jamaat-e-Islam Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan highlighted the issue by sharing a video of Murree school students eating the McDonald’s meals in their classroom, and a photo of the Chief Minister posing with a student.

Senator Khan criticized the gesture, describing it as insensitive to the Muslim community’s sentiments during the ongoing crisis.

He argued that Chief Minister Maryam should issue an apology because the distribution coincided with global boycotts against food chains supporting Israel.

The controversy stems from recent actions by McDonald’s in Israel, where the company reportedly provided thousands of free meals to the Israeli military amidst the Gaza humanitarian crisis.
