[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Punjab Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman presided over the swearing-in ceremony of Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan, officially inaugurating him as the new Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC). The oath-taking event took place at the Governor House in Lahore, where Justice Khan was warmly received by the Punjab Governor, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, and Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb.
Various dignitaries attended the ceremony, including Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan, and Justices Aalia Neelum, Shahid Karim, Shahid Bilal, Farooq Haider, Shehbaz Rizvi, Ali Baqar Najafi, Deputy Attorney General Rafaqat Dogar, and senior counsels.

Justice Khan’s appointment follows the retirement of Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti on March 7, concluding his 13-year service to the institution, including a tenure of two years and eight months as Chief Justice. Justice Khan is expected to retire on March 14, 2025, upon reaching the age of 62, with Senior puisne Justice Shujaat Ali Khan slated to assume the role of LHC Chief Justice following Justice Khan’s retirement.
Notably, Justice Khan previously served as the acting LHC Chief Justice, commencing his term on May 2, 2022, during the overseas absence of his predecessor, the then LHC Chief Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
