Malala Yousafzai Unveils Scholarship Program For Students From Palestine

Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has unveiled a scholarship initiative for Palestinian students, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the ongoing challenges in the region. Speaking at the Oxford Pakistan Programme event, Malala, co-founder of the Malala Fund, announced that the scholarships would enable Palestinian students to pursue studies at Oxford University.

During her address, Malala underscored the dire educational situation in Gaza, where over 80% of schools and all universities have been either completely demolished or severely damaged. She stressed the necessity for a sustainable ceasefire and substantial long-term investment to reconstruct Gaza’s educational infrastructure.

Malala emphasized that the scholarship program goes beyond financial assistance; it also symbolizes solidarity with the Palestinian people. The recipients of these scholarships will commence their studies at Oxford University’s Margaret Hall starting October 2024.
