LAHORE: The temperature in Lahore remained high on Saturday as intense sunshine continued to affect the city, keeping weather conditions hot and uncomfortable throughout the day.
According to the Meteorological Department, the current temperature was recorded at 34°C, while the maximum is expected to rise to 42°C. The minimum temperature for the day is forecast at 32°C, indicating another extremely warm day for residents.
Officials said the humidity level has reached 52 percent, making the weather feel even hotter than the recorded temperature. Winds are blowing at around 11 kilometres per hour, providing only limited relief from the persistent heat.
The weather department expects the city to remain hot and humid for the rest of the day. Although partly cloudy skies are likely, there is no forecast of rainfall. The sun and clouds are expected to alternate throughout the day, but conditions will remain largely dry.
Weather experts have advised citizens to avoid staying outdoors during the hottest hours of the day. They have also urged people to drink plenty of water, wear light clothing, and limit unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight to reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses.
The ongoing hot spell has increased concerns about dehydration and heat exhaustion, especially for children, elderly people, and individuals who work outdoors. Health experts recommend taking regular breaks in shaded or cool places whenever possible.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted that monsoon rains are likely to begin in Lahore from July 1. The arrival of the rainy season is expected to lower the temperature and provide much-needed relief from the prolonged heatwave affecting the city.
Authorities have advised residents to continue following official weather updates, as forecasts may change. Until the monsoon arrives, the high temperature is expected to persist, making it important for citizens to remain cautious and take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the extreme weather conditions.
