The popular comedy show The Great Indian Kapil Show is facing backlash after a recent episode offended the Bengali community, leading to a legal notice. Host Kapil Sharma and co-star Krishna Abhishek parodied the renowned Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore’s famous poem Ekla Chalo Re, humorously changing it to “Pichla Chalo,” which sparked outrage.

Esteemed figures in Bengali literature and the arts, including poet Sujato Bandyopadhyay and musician Indradeep Das Gupta, criticized the episode. They highlighted the thin line between humor and disrespect, stating that crossing this line can lead to deep offense within the community.
