On Monday, the Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court issued an order to unseal Sheikh Rashid’s Lal Haveli, the leader of the Awami Muslim League. During the hearing of the case regarding the sealing of Lal Haveli, Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf presided over the proceedings. Former interior minister Rashid, accompanied by his lawyers Abdul Razzaq and Sardar Shehbaz, was present in the courtroom.
The court directed the authorities to promptly unseal Lal Haveli and declared the decision to revoke its ownership deed as invalid. Additionally, the court challenged the decision of the Evacuee Trust Property Board chairman and instructed the Board to reevaluate the Lal Haveli case.

The court emphasized the need to reexamine the pleas of Rashid and his brother, Sheikh Siddique, ensuring that complainants are granted a fair opportunity to present their arguments in the pursuit of justice.
The court also noted the contrast with India, where a relevant law had been passed to settle trust property issues conclusively, while in Pakistan, government departments were not consistently adhering to the law and often acted at their own discretion.
It’s worth mentioning that Sheikh Rashid had submitted a petition to the Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court, seeking the annulment of the decision to seal Lal Haveli.
