Lahore At High Risk of Early Deaths Due To Air Quality

The University of Chicago has raised the alarm for Lahore residents with its latest research on the city’s worrisome amount of smog.

Despite the government’s efforts, the province capital remains the world’s most filthy city. According to a study issued by an American university, the average annual age of Lahore residents is on the decline.

According to the report, the city’s citizens’ life expectancy is declining by 7 years per year. According to the report, being exposed to the current amount of pollution is similar to smoking 30 cigarettes everyday.

It is worth noting that the air quality index in Lahore has hit 500, much exceeding the typical limit of 200. According to the Environment Department, index readings between 200 and 300 may induce eye discomfort.

When the AQI readings reach 400 to 500, the situation becomes exceedingly dangerous. The government has been urged to take strict measures to reduce air pollution in the city.
