The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is set to launch an electric bike scheme for women across the province. College and university students, along with employed women, will be eligible to receive the bikes under the initiative.
Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi announced the scheme while addressing the 57th meeting of the provincial cabinet. He said eligible women would receive electric bikes strictly on a merit-based basis.
The government plans to launch the first phase of the EV bike scheme soon. However, officials have not yet announced the number of bikes that will be distributed under the programme.

The chief minister also directed authorities to accelerate work on an electric bus scheme. The buses are planned for divisional headquarters across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
