Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Orders Investigation into Madyan Blasphemy Mob Killing

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has responded decisively to a gruesome incident in the Madyan area of Swat district, where a tourist from Sialkot was brutally killed by a mob over blasphemy allegations. The tragic event, which occurred on Thursday, has ignited outrage and concern throughout the region.

Local reports indicate that residents accused the tourist of blasphemy, leading to a violent mob forming around him. The tourist sought refuge at the local police station, but the mob overran the station, tortured him to death, and subsequently set his body on fire. The violent encounter also left eight policemen injured as they tried to maintain order.

CM Gandapur has directed the KP Police inspector general to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident. In a phone call with the IGP, Gandapur stressed the urgency of the situation and demanded immediate action to restore order and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Expressing deep regret over the loss of life, Gandapur appealed for calm and urged citizens not to take the law into their own hands. He emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice for all involved.

Initial reports suggest the situation escalated rapidly after mosque announcements mobilized a large crowd, who demanded that the police hand over the accused. The mob attacked the police station, causing extensive damage and setting it on fire.

Authorities are now working diligently to restore calm in the area and apprehend those responsible for the violence. The incident has drawn widespread condemnation and calls for justice, highlighting the urgent need for measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
