Renowned screenwriter and dramatist Khalilur Rehman Qamar revealed in a podcast interview that during his recent kidnapping, his abductors mentioned the names of actors Noman Ijaz and Saba Qamar. Qamar expressed disbelief at the mention of these actors, noting that despite his personal differences with them, he respects their acting abilities and does not believe they were involved.

Qamar detailed the harrowing experience, stating that he initially hesitated to file a First Information Report (FIR) because of the mentioned names, suspecting the kidnappers aimed to create confusion and mental distress. He shared his surprise at the support he received from Indian fans during the ordeal, contrasting it with the hostility and mockery he faced in Pakistan.

The incident occurred last week in Lahore when Qamar was lured by a woman under the pretext of discussing a drama project. Upon arrival, he was abducted by armed men who later robbed and tortured him. Despite the traumatic experience, Qamar remains deeply attached to his homeland and has no plans to emigrate, although his wife wishes to leave Pakistan due to the distress caused.

According to the police, Qamar paid a large sum to the kidnappers before being released. The FIR registered at Sundar police station in Lahore details the suspects’ torture, theft of Qamar’s belongings, and a Rs250,000 transfer from his ATM card. The kidnappers eventually blindfolded and abandoned him in a deserted area before fleeing.
