Kenyan Police Sued By Arshad Sharif's Widow

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Javeria Siddique, widow of journalist Arshad Sharif, has lodged a complaint against Kenyan police a year after her husband’s killing. Arshad Sharif, a respected investigative journalist from Pakistan, was murdered in Nairobi in October of the previous year. Initially, Kenya claimed it was a case of “mistaken identity” by their police.

However, subsequent reports from Kenyan media suggested a passenger in Sharif’s car may have fired at paramilitary General Service Unit police. Javeria Siddique’s attorney confirmed the filing in Kenya’s High Court. She has been seeking justice for a year, and despite acknowledgment of her husband’s killing, she received no apology from Kenyan authorities.
