In a bid to ease the process for Karachi’s citizens, the government has decided to establish passport offices at two NADRA mega centres in the city. This new initiative aims to reduce the congestion at the central passport office by offering convenient alternatives for passport services. The passport offices will be set up at the NADRA Mega Centre 5 Star Chowrangi and the NADRA Mega Centre Siemens Chowrangi (SITE).
The decision was made following a visit by Director General Passport Mustafa Jamal Qazi to Karachi, where he discussed the need for additional centres to improve accessibility. This initiative is part of a broader plan to introduce passport services at approximately 11 NADRA mega centres across the country, including Karachi.

In addition to the new passport offices, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi recently visited Karachi’s 24/7 Passport Office at Awami Markaz and the NADRA Defence Mega Centre. During the visit, he interacted with citizens and received positive feedback about the efficiency of the passport and ID card issuance processes. Naqvi assured citizens that delays in passport issuance were being addressed, and the timeline for receiving passports had improved.
The Director General of Immigration and Passports, Mustafa Jamal Qazi, also confirmed that the backlog of pending passports had been cleared, with a record number of passports being printed since July 1. With the backlog resolved, citizens are now advised to collect their passports directly from regional passport offices without waiting for delivery notifications.
