Karachi Faces Winter's Coldest Night Yet, More Cold Expected

Karachi, the capital of Sindh and the nation’s business hub, typically encounters warm nights year-round. However, an uncommon occurrence transpired when the temperature dipped below 14°C, precisely reaching 13.5°C.

The Meteorological Office verified these temperatures and forecasted a further decrease to 12°C over the upcoming weekend.

Across Sindh, the coldest temperatures were recorded in Mithi (6.5 °C), Mohenjo Daro (7 °C), Sukkur (8°C), and 9.5 °C in the Shaheed Benazirabad district.

According to the Meteorological Department, dry weather is anticipated in Karachi for the next two days, with the likelihood of light fog in the early morning hours. The city can expect winds from the northeast during the day and from the southwest in the evening. Meanwhile, Sindh province will generally experience dry and cold conditions in most areas.

The Meteorological Office’s monthly report predicts normal to slightly above-average rainfall in many parts of the country, particularly in the central regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, during the current month.

For January, the forecast indicates regular precipitation in most parts of the country, particularly in Sindh. Looking ahead to February 2024, normal to slightly above-normal precipitation is expected in many areas, particularly upper Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
